Homelessness isn't uncommon at all and it's easy to forget how easy it could be to end up without a home these days. With the news reporting of events from all over the world, it's easy to forget the suffering of those on our own doorsteps. But our team here showed how the simplest of gestures can be so rewarding.
What exactly goes on?
Well the teams from all over, unite under the Focus4Hope banner to provide food, clothing and other assistance to those in need in Leeds. From a hot meal, to food parcels, warm clothing and bedding, to connecting with other services to offer assistance.
Just a trim and a little off the top please ladies...
Providing hair cuts to those living rough on the streets and those who can't afford the small luxuries we sometimes take for granted. This week, one young visitor was explaining that he was going to a meeting about a job to help him back into work and a place to live. The simplest gesture like a fresh trim meant the world to him as reminded him of his self-respect and dignity.
Open wide and say arrrgggggghhhh!!!
As ever, Rachel and Imran were on site to provide dental and emergency dental treatment to those in need. Often it's easy to forget that without a permanent address, you can't always access the mainstream services we rely on. So if you're suffering with an acute dental complaint and on the street, the team from Town Hall Dental are there to help. As regulars at the Leeds outreach, Town Hall Dental are no strangers to chipping in and doing their bit.
How do I get involved?
Getting involved is simple. Really it is. If you want to come and help on the day, speak to Louise at Focus4Hope. Or if you can't, but still want to assist, then why not donate? We receive regular donations through the charitable websites, as well as those of food and clothing which may be sent to Town Hall Dental. Either way, if you want to do your bit, we would be grateful of your help. As would those on the streets too. Thanks
Keep up to date with the latest going on here at The Room at Town Hall...
